Setting Take-Profit and Stop-Loss Orders in the Bybit App on a Small Screen
Conditional orders let the Bybit app manage exits while you are away from the screen. Learn how to attach take-profit and stop-loss levels on mobile and avoid the most common setup mistakes.

Many traders open positions on their phone in a spare moment, intending to manage the exit later. Later often arrives at an inconvenient time, or not at all. The Bybit app lets you attach take-profit and stop-loss levels when you place an order or afterwards, so exits happen even when you are busy. The controls are compact, though, and small mistakes such as picking the wrong trigger type are common. This guide walks through setting conditional exits in the app and checking that they are actually in place.
Attaching exits when you place the order
On the order form, look for the option to add take-profit and stop-loss. Enabling it reveals fields for trigger prices. Enter levels based on your plan rather than round numbers chosen in the moment. Some traders prefer percentage or profit-amount inputs; whichever you use, read the resulting price before confirming. Setting exits at entry ensures the position is never left unprotected while you are distracted.
Choosing the trigger price type
Bybit lets you choose what price triggers a conditional order, such as the last traded price or the mark price. The last price reacts to every trade, including brief spikes, while the mark price is smoother. The choice affects whether a short wick triggers your stop. The help centre describes each option; pick one deliberately rather than leaving the default without thought.
Market or limit execution after the trigger
When a stop triggers, it can send a market order, which exits reliably but at an uncertain price, or a limit order, which controls price but may not fill in a fast move. For protective stops, many traders prefer market execution so the exit actually happens. For take-profit orders, a limit can work well. Know which you selected, because the app may remember your last choice.
Confirming exits are live
After placing the order, open the positions tab and check that the take-profit and stop-loss levels appear against the position. Also look in the conditional orders list. If you later add to the position, confirm the exits cover the new size. Enable notifications for triggered orders so you know when an exit has fired, and review fills afterwards against the trigger levels you set.

Scenario checkpoint
- Enable take-profit and stop-loss fields on the order form before confirming.
- Choose last price or mark price as the trigger type deliberately each time.
- Check whether your stop sends a market or a limit order once it triggers.
- Verify in the positions tab that exits cover the full size after adding.
