A five-minute futures check in the Bybit app before you go to sleep
Overnight is when many futures traders get liquidated without seeing it coming. This bedtime routine for Bybit app users covers stops, margin, liquidation distance, and funding before you put the phone down.

A position that looked fine at dinner can be gone by breakfast. Markets trade around the clock, and the hours when you sleep are often when volatility arrives from other time zones. The Bybit app gives you everything you need to check a position's health in a couple of minutes, but it is easy to skip when you are tired. Turning it into a short bedtime routine, the same steps every night, is one of the simplest ways to reduce overnight surprises in futures trading.
Confirm a stop is attached and live
Open the positions tab and check that each open position shows a stop-loss. Tap into it and confirm the trigger price and trigger type are what you intended. A stop placed hours ago may now be too close or too far after price has moved. If any position has no stop, decide right now whether to add one or close it, rather than leaving it to chance while you sleep. Also check that the position size shown matches what you think you hold, since partial fills earlier in the day can leave a different quantity than planned.
Check liquidation distance
Compare the mark price with the liquidation price for each position. Ask yourself whether a move of that size overnight is possible. If it is, reduce size or leverage, or add margin deliberately with a clear reason. Remember that with cross margin, a losing position can draw on your whole futures balance, so the risk extends beyond the single trade.
Note the next funding time
Perpetual contracts exchange funding at scheduled intervals. The app shows the current rate and the countdown. If you are on the paying side and the rate is elevated, holding overnight adds cost. The Bybit fees page explains how funding is calculated. Factor it into your decision to keep the position, especially if your trade idea needs several days to play out.
Set alerts, then step away
Turn on price alerts near your stop and liquidation levels so your phone wakes you only if something significant happens. Then close the app. Checking the chart repeatedly in bed leads to impulsive changes. In the morning, review what happened against your plan and note any adjustments in your trading journal. Over a few weeks those notes show whether your overnight positions tend to help or hurt your results, which is worth knowing before the next late session.
