Write your worst acceptable fill before tapping buy on Bybit
Slippage feels less surprising when you have decided in advance the worst price you will accept. How Bybit app users can set that limit, check book depth and use limit orders to enforce it.

A market order on a phone is two taps away, and it carries an unstated promise: you will accept whatever price the book provides. Usually that price is close to what you saw. Sometimes, in thin markets or fast moves, it is not. Writing down your worst acceptable fill before you tap changes the dynamic. You now have a number to compare with the book, and if the book cannot meet it, you can switch to a limit order that enforces it. This guide explains how to choose that number, how to check depth in the Bybit app and how to review your fills afterwards. It gives no fee rates.
Choose your worst acceptable price
Before trading, look at the current price and decide how far from it you are willing to go. Write the figure down with the size of your order. The exact level depends on your purpose; for a long-term purchase you may accept little deviation, while an urgent exit may justify more. The point is to decide while calm, not while the order is filling.
Check the book against your limit
Open the order book in the Bybit app and add up the quantities on the opposite side until they cover your order size. Note the price at which your order would complete. If that price is beyond your written limit, a market order would breach it. Thin pairs and fast moments make this more likely, so pay extra attention when conditions look unusual.
Enforce the limit
When the book cannot meet your limit, place a limit order at your worst acceptable price instead of a market order, or split the order into smaller pieces. A limit order may not fill completely, which is the trade-off for price control. Read the Bybit help centre for the order options available on the product you use.
Review fills against the plan
After the trade, compare the average fill price in your history with the figure you wrote down. Note the pair, the size and the difference. Over time, these notes show which pairs and sizes cause slippage for you and help you set more realistic limits. Fees are explained on the official fee page; slippage you learn from your own fills. Patterns emerge within a few weeks.
